Extra-curricular activities play an essential role in supporting pupils outside school hours. The school canteen is not compulsory. Its purpose is to ensure that pupils and adults are catered for in the best possible conditions of hygiene and safety.
The school canteen is located on the school premises. It is open to all pupils and staff.
Meal times in the canteen should be calm and convivial. The school canteen is a fundamental part of community life and requires children to comply with basic rules of hygiene and politeness.
The canteen service provides children with healthy food that is as balanced as possible. Meals are prepared and delivered by a ‘hot link’ service provider, reheated and served by the service provider’s staff in accordance with current regulations.
During the meal service, the children are made aware of the importance of eating a variety of balanced dishes. This awareness of taste and the discovery of new foods is an incentive, never a constraint.
